The Moggery Rehoming Centre

65 Longmead Ave, Bristol BS7 8QB, UK – 0117 924 3128

Do you want a cat go and get to know the guests of this place and you’ll fall in love!

The Moggery is a cats' rescue centre run entirely by volunteers and headed by the delightful Christine. As with other pet rescue centres they have a fairly long list of conditions for potential adopters, but they are drawn up to ensure their cats are safer and happier in their new homes. The Moggery exists entirely on donations- and costs are considerable for food, litter and vets' fees etc. Christine is a star, she equips both cat and adopters/rehomers with a wealth of useful pet carriers and useful information and she will always advise and assist should a cat become unwell. There are a lot of cats at the Moggery, each with a heart-wrenching history. My own rescue cat was found at the age of one, heavily pregnant but luckily she gave birth to 5 kittens at The Moggery. She was a wonderful mother and now all the kittens and mum have been rehomed. It is such a caring place, and if anyone's considering getting a rescue cat or kitten they should ring The Moggery first to meet Christine and to view the available cats. There is nothing better than offering an unfortunate feline a safe and loving home. In return they will enrich your life and provide endless fun and love. The Moggery is a wonderful place which I recommend to anyone wanting to take on a cat or kitten. Check out their website!

Pets at Home

4, Eastgate Centre, Bristol BS5 6XX, UK – 0345 608 0485

All you could need in a nice big store. Lots of parking available and never seems to busy. Prices are affordable too - especially for bulk items. Staff are on hand to help and offer advice and they sell small animals like rabbits. Lots of other shops nearby so worth a visit. Food options local too.

Went here when I was on holidays. Much bigger than my local store, cat section is quite small and for what I could see there is no wild bird section. Small animal section was GREAT (it filled 4 aisles)! Staff were friendly. Only thing problem I have is that Pets at Home shouldn't be advertising treats with sugar in the ingredients for dwarf hamsters, because they are very prone to diabetes! Great shop.

One In Eight

160 Gloucester Rd, Bristol BS7 8NT, UK – 0117 924 6228

Several years ago I was very ill and without suitable amenities. I came to 1 in 8 by chance, just walking past. The people who run 1 in 8 were sympathetic about my voice hearing and let me have cups of tea and a chance to sit down in a lovely room full of books. I have often remembered these people's kindness and I hope 1 in 8 continues to exist for people in the community who need somewhere to take a short break from the chaos. Amazing place. Thank you.

This shop is amazing! I walked in for the first time today and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The prices are so much better than the larger charity shops in the area and the people are so friendly. Feeling fantastic about supporting a great cause!
