Walking, Hiking and Outdoor Shops

Snow + Rock

Units 1-3, Shield Retail Centre Link Road Filton Bristol BS34 7BR GB, Link Rd, Filton, Bristol BS34 7BR, UK – 0117 914 3000

Excellent service from staff. Keep your eye on the length of time you park, waiting can be excessive at the weekend during the ski season, your wait could exceed the free parking resulting in a charge of £100. Would have been excellent if staff made customers waiting aware or displayed details in store, It is easy to miss the signage when entering the car park.

Great customer service. My new ski pants pocket zip broke on first day of holiday, returned to Snow & Rock as soon as I got home where i was offered a refund without any fuss. I explained I would like another pair of ski pants only to discover they didnt have any in store the young lady serving me did everything to locate a pair but all sold out throughout the company. The very helpful sales assistant (unfortunately I didn't get her name) then tried to find a similar pair in the store letting me try on numerous pairs until I was satisfied. I was very impressed with the level of customer service offered to me and would not hesitate in recommending Snow & Rock 😁

Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports

Needed fitted insoles in a hurry to do Fan Dance the following day, with Avalanche Endurance Events, and in brand new boots. Not ideal! All the staff were friendly and experienced. My insoles were done by Rosie, who does hiking boot insoles and many for Ski boots. Rosie was very thorough and careful to make sure that the fitting to my feet was perfect - then the fitting to the boot. I did the long version of the Fan Dance the following day (the Woodhouse Route, which is a good deal more demanding than than the normal Fan Dance Route).. More steep ups and more steep downs and much more 'difficult round' to cover. Rosie's care paid off 100%. I had started the route with damaged toes, but the fitted insoles allowed me to complete the route with no problems at all. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Much great kit for mountains and ski slopes - Brilliant fitted insoles..... Thank you so much Rosie. Richard

Store is rather small and claustrophobic, not much room to actually look at the gear on sale. There is however a reasonable selection of certain items, primarily clothing, choice of other items in-store is limited, no doubt also due to space. Went into look at/buy new ski poles and helmet. Selection of both was limited, was told that everything they had in store was on display at the time (last winter). Bit frustrating since buying some things online isn't ideal and I have to travel over an hour to get here. Overall just not an ideal environment particularly if trying to consider a purchase potentially worth hundreds of pounds.

Bloc Climbing Centre, New Gatton Rd, Bristol BS2 9SH, UK – 0117 955 1313

Best equipped specialist climbing shop I've been to. Especially the massive range of shoes! (cheaper than Go Outdoors with discount card!)

I went here to swap my climbing shoes after having bought them online and getting them too small, and the range of shoes they have are awesome! The guys are super friendly and very attentive. I was able to try on loads of different shoes and sizes to ensure I got the right fit. I'd definitely recommend BF to anyone who wants to get climbing shoes and any climbing gear. I'll definitely be going back again when the time comes.

Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

Me and 2 friends stayed in a cabin for Bristol carnival weekend and livlo it. Very cheap, casual, good facilities. Everyone so friendly. Very cute and eclectic. Home made "hot tub", pizza oven, solar shower etc. Free to roam the grounds, play with the chickens in the aviary, use the dining room to socialise, use cooking facilities and the fridge etc. Awesome location, very central would definitely recommend and stay again.

We had our wedding reception here and couldn't have asked for a better place to hold a party! The venue is so cool and the location is amazing, right in the centre of Bristol but feels like you are in the middle of nowhere! Thanks for letting us celebrate our big day here!
